According to reports of Mark W. Sánchez from the New York Post, the Mets are looking to sign Gio Urshela and J.D Martínez.
However, the Mets are not the only team that is in the mix for this two players. The Angels want J.D Martínez after the Ohtani’s departure. The Diamondbacks would be another team that can be interested in Martínez because they need a designated hitter with power. If any team signs Martínez, an option for the other two can be Justin Turner.

With Yamamoto’s arrival to the Dodgers, teams are looking for another options in the pitchers´ market. The best pitchers available are Jordan Montgomery and Blake Snell, but it has been said that the Mets have had contact with Lucas Giolito and Shota Imanaga.
Also, the Mets want to sign an experienced player at the third place and that is the reason why they are looking for Gio Urshela.

The colombian player comes from a season with a lot of injuries where he only played iin 62 games with the Angels so the Mets want to recover the best version of Urshela that we saw of him when he was at the Yankees.
One thing that can make the transaction easier is that the manager of the New York Mets (Carlos Mendoza) knows Urshela from his time on the Yankees.
