The Minnesota Twins unveiled their new City Connect uniforms this Monday, inspired by the city’s nickname, “Land of 10,000 Lakes.” The uniforms feature a design in shades of blue with yellow accents.
The predominant blue in the uniform symbolizes the waves, while the “MN” initials on the chest refer to the state’s postal code and are connected to the North Star, paying homage to the Minnesota North Stars, the professional ice hockey team that played in the NHL for 26 seasons, from 1967 to 1993.
The caps are also blue with a yellow visor and feature an outline of the state containing more waves along with the North Star and lights.
Heather Henkel, the Vice President of Brand Marketing for the Minnesota Twins, shared her thoughts on the new attire:
“We did this as a City Connect uniform. However, we didn’t choose a city but the entire state of Minnesota.”
Henkel added that the yellow detail reflects the sun rising over the lake’s surface, while the detail on the sleeve and the underside of the cap’s visor pays tribute to the state bird and the late Prince.
Some players commented on the new uniform that the team will be wearing, including pitcher Joe Ryan, who expressed his excitement about donning it on the field:
“They did a great job representing the state of Minnesota. I’m excited to wear the uniform.”
The Twins will wear their new uniforms for every home game on Fridays for the rest of the season, starting on June 14, and will also don them for their next three Saturday home games.
