On May 19, 1933, a game was held between the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians. For the Cleveland Indians, Wes Ferrell took the mound. It was in the second inning when Rick hit a home run off his brother. However, the revenge did not take long; as Wes responded in the same way with the bat in the next inning.

Throughout his career, he accumulated 329 hits for a batting average of .280 with 57 doubles, 12 triples, 208 RBIs, and 175 runs scored. These numbers led him to be part of both the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame.

His brother Rick also had great numbers that led him to be an eight-time All-Star. Throughout his career, he hit: 1692 H, 28 HR, 734 RBI, and a batting average of .281.

Wes Ferrell is considered one of the great omissions from the Cooperstown Hall of Fame; as he had enormous capability in both facets of the diamond (as a pitcher and as a hitter). In fact, he surpassed his brother in the number of home runs.
