The venezuelan player of the Philadelphia Phillies, Ranger Suarez, had another great start from the mound against the defending 2024 Major League Baseball champions, the Texas Rangers.

During the first of a three-game series between the Philadelphia Phillies vs. the Texas Rangers, Ranger Suarez worked seven innings where he just allowed one run, five hits, two walks and ten strikeouts, striking out 70 of the 108 pitches he threw.

These 10 strikeouts tie Suárez’s highest mark in one start over his seven seasons in the Major League. At the same time, the Venezuelan left-hander is 9-0 with a 1.38 ERA, 66 innings, 68 strikeouts and 0.79 WHIP in 10 starts.

Ranger Suárez achieves a record never seen before

Suarez became the only MLB pitcher to go undefeated with an ERA below 1.50 and more than 65 strikeouts in his first 10 appearances of a season (since ERA became an official statistic in both leagues in 1913).

He also became the only left-handed pitcher in National League history to start 8-0 and have an ERA below 1.40. And if that wasn’t enough, he became the first Philadelphia Phillies pitcher to start 9-0 since Tommy Greene more than 30 years ago.
