The venezuelan pitcher, Martin Perez, was looking to bounce back in his performance after a challenging start with negative numbers. However, his quest for improvement will be put on hold after suffering a left hamstring strain in his last out against the Atlanta Braves. The injury occurred during a play in the third inning when he tried to make an assist at first base. Although he attempted to continue pitching, he was eventually removed from the game after not showing signs of recovery.
On Tuesday, the Pirates announced Perez’s placement on the 15-day injured list, along with catcher Joey Bart, who will be sidelined for 10 days. They were replaced on the roster by Ke’Bryan Hayes and catcher Grant Koch.
We have activated INF Ke’Bryan Hayes from the 10-day injured list and selected the contract of C Grant Koch to the Major League roster.
We have also placed LHP Martín Pérez on the 15-day injured list (retro to May 27) and C Joey Bart on the 10-day injured list (retro to May 27).

Perez joined the Pirates during the offseason seeking a fresh start after a challenging 2023 season with the Texas Rangers. In 2024, he has recorded one win and three losses in 11 appearances, with an ERA of 4.71 in 57.1 innings pitched. He has struck out 46 batters and issued 19 walks during this period.
