Clayton Kershaw has been out for the entire 2024 campaign after undergoing shoulder surgery last November. The 36-year-old returned to the Dodgers in the offseason on a one-year, $10 million contract with a player option for 2025, but has been waiting to pitch until fully recovered.
How has he performed in the Minor Leagues?
Despite a setback after his first outing, Kershaw made three rehab starts, posting a 3.60 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 10 innings.
It’s worth noting that Kershaw, with a legendary career worthy of future Hall of Fame induction, aims to reach 3,000 career strikeouts in the remainder of the season. He currently sits at 2,944 strikeouts.
Dave Roberts also announced that right-hander Tyler Glasnow will be reinstated from the injured list to start Wednesday’s game against the Giants. Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injured list on July 9th due to back stiffness, causing him to miss his first career All-Star Game opportunity.
