The top of the New York Yankees’ lineup offered a small sign of what they want to show during the 2024 season, starting with leadoff hitter D.J. LeMahieu hitting a single followed by Juan Soto, the second hitter, with a massive home run.
During the Sunday, March 10 game between the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins, Juan Soto connected a HR with two runners on base to give his team the lead in the score.
Juan Soto didn’t waste the first pitch he saw of Braves prospect pitcher Patrick Halligan, who threw a 90-mile-per-hour fastball that Soto sent out at 112.2 miles per hour and 447 feet away over the center field of the famous George M. Steinbrenner Field.
It’s worth noting that Yankees manager Aaron Boone has emphasized one and two times that the team’s leadoff hitter for Opening Day will be veteran D.J. LeMahieu, followed by Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. Everything indicates that it won’t be the first time we see Soto and LeMahieu making an impact, followed, of course, by not forgetting the captain.
Juan Soto has hit four home runs in the 2024 Spring Training, now improving his batting line to .500/.550/1.278 with 6 runs scored, 9 hits, 2 doubles, 4 home runs, 10 RBIs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts in 18 at-bats in seven games.
