The outfielder of the Toronto Blue Jays, Kevin Kiermaier, tested free agency for the second time in his career.
At the beginning of free agency, Kiermaier thought he wasn’t going to come back to the Toronto Blue Jays because other teams of huge markets were looking for him like: Dodgers, Cubs and Giants.
The same economic possibilities that the Blue Jays had to sign Kiermaier were also available to the Dodgers, Cubs, and Giants, all looking to improve their roster.
Kevin Kiermaier confessed to media that he didn’t like the artificial field of the Rogers Centre and that is hard to defend on it and is not the only player that has said this about the Toronto Blue Jays´ home. However, he decided to stay in Toronto because of the love he had received from the fans, teammates and the principal office. Also he believes that the team can have good results in the 2024 season and he knows that there are not many players competing for the center field position.
Despite his thoughts on the field, last year Kiermaier won the fourth Gloven Glove of its career.
With the Toronto Blue Jays, Kiermaier comes from establishing his best season since 2019. He had 14 stolen bases in 15 tries, 8 HR, 21 doubles, 6 triples and 36 RBI.
