After the series started 2-0 in favor of the Philadelphia Phillies, the manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks (Torey Lovullo) decided to make changes in his lineup; in which one of them was to get rid of Thomas from the starting lineup.
Before Game 3 of the NLCS, Alek Thomas was batting for a batting average below .200 and 2 HR in the postseason. Fortunately for him, his fortune changed.
In Game 3, the coach decided to include him as a pinch runner in first base when the game was 0-1. in the eight inning This movement resulted into a tie and then Arizona won the game.
For the fourth game of the series he also didn´t appear in the starting lineup. However, he entered as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the eight inning when Arizona was losing 5-2. A huge bomb from the mexican, represented a HR and 3 RBI for the mexican player.
Despite he hasn´t start many of the games. Alek Thomas has become a trustful subsistute for the manager in the moments of trouble.
Alek Thomas had a great regular season with: .230 AVG, 9 HR and 78 RBI.
