Mediante el segundo juego de los Yankees en la temporada 2021, Lucas Luegte fue llamado para lanzar la octava entrada del equipo, lanzando 1 entrada permitiendo una sola carrera.
Luetge lanzó por última vez en el 2015 con los Marineros de Seattle, desde allí había firmado algunos contratos de Ligas Menores, pero los problemas en su brazo lo limitaban.
