Recently, the GM of the New York Yankees (Brian Cashman) revealed important details about the negotiations that the team had with Shohei Ohtani, that ended signing a multimillionaire contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers of 700 million dollars for ten tears.
Brian Cashman said that he was surprised by the requirements of contract that Ohtani wanted in order to join the organization and that is the main reason the Yankees didn’t submit a final offer to the japanese player.
The veteran of the Yankees said he couldn’t imagine how to structure a contract with so much deferred money, and that, from his side, there would never be an offer of that magnitude.
Signing Ohtani would have resolved many of the problems that the Yankees have had in the starting rotation. However, Yankees had to look for another options in free agency to cover that position and they signed Marcus Stroman.
