Alek Thomas was born in Chicago, Illinois. However he has the mexican nationality because of his mother that is native from Agua Prieta, Sonora.
Despite the love he felt for Mexico, the opportunity to represent the country internationally never came at the beginning of his career. It was United States the one who called him at first to represent them in the U-18 World Cup 2018. In that World Cup, Thomas won the world championship and was elected to the best team of the tournament.
In the World Cup celebrated in Thunder Bay, Canada, he had a hit per game and two hit in the final against Korea. He finished with a batting average of .361 and 8 RBI
It was in 2023 when he finally had the opportunity to represent the Mexican National Team at the World Baseball Classic. He had an awesome tournament where he was part of a team that finalized in third place.
The good impressions he made in the World Baseball Classic put him in a solid position to stay with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks selected Alek Thomas from Mount Carmel Little High School at the 2018 MLB Draft
He made his MLB Debut on May.8th 2022, where he had his first hit in the league.
