The cuban first baseman Yuli Gurriel, of the Atlanta Braves is currently playing in the Triple-A  with an expectation to join the big team in the Major Leagues or to attract the attention of another organization.

Yuli Gurriel signed a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves on April 16th and was assigned to the Miami complex for his initial preparation because he did not see action in spring training. Shortly thereafter, he was assigned to the Triple-A team to begin his journey.

How has Yuli Gurriel fared?

Since then he has played a total of 20 games and has used up 73 at-bats, in which he posted an offensive line of .233/.317/.329 with 3 runs scored, 17 hits, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 6 RBIs, 9 walks and 13 strikeouts.

So far, the two-time World Series champion has not yet made that big of an impression for the Braves to consider making room for him on the active roster. However, it’s too short a sample size to judge him, and he has a July 2 option to opt out of his contract and pursue new options.

Gurriel, 39, played 108 games in the majors with the Miami Marlins last season after spending the first seven years of his career with the Houston Astros, where he was a one-time Gold Glove and a batting title winner. He has a .326 AVG in his career  with a .766 OPS, 432 runs scored, 939 hits, 222 doubles, 8 triples, 98 home runs, 462 runs batted in, 27 steals, 214 tickets and 414 strikeouts in 909 games.
