Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager returned to Dodger Stadium on Tuesday with another World Series title to his impressive resume. However, he was unable to play due to a lingering hamstring injury.

Seager was warmly received by the crowd as he stood in the visitors’ dugout at Dodger Stadium for the first time in his career. The stadium’s PA system announced his name, and at the fans’ urging, Seager stepped out of the dugout and raised his hands in acknowledgment.

Corey Seager on Leaving the Dodgers

When asked about his transition from the Dodgers to the Rangers in the winter of 2021, Seager indicated that he could no longer recall those emotions and was reluctant to discuss them.

“That was a long time ago, and I really don’t remember how it felt. I’m sorry… I don’t want to go down that path,” Seager said. “This organization raised me, drafted me, made me the man I am today,” he continued. “They taught me the game of baseball, I made a lot of friends, and had many good times. So, all those memories came flooding back.”

Has Seager Watched the Dodgers Play?

“No, I haven’t been able to watch any games, but (Mookie Betts) is a special player. Everyone knows he’s a special athlete who can play everywhere at such a high level and still compete in that spot. It’s been impressive,” Seager remarked.

While this is the first time Seager, 30, has set foot in Dodger Stadium with his Rangers teammates, he did appear at the plate during the 2022 All-Star Game at his former ballpark. During his time with the Dodgers, he was named National League Rookie of the Year in 2016, made two All-Star appearances, and twice finished in the top 10 in MVP voting.

Corey Seager’s Numbers and Achievements with the Dodgers

Over seven seasons, despite battling several injuries, Corey Seager compiled an impressive offensive line of .297/.367/.504, with 394 runs scored, 718 hits, 164 doubles, 12 triples, 104 home runs, 364 RBIs, 12 stolen bases, 255 walks, and 501 strikeouts. He earned two All-Star selections, two Silver Slugger awards, the Rookie of the Year title in 2016, and was the 2020 World Series MVP.
