The left-handed of the San Francisco Giants, Blake Snell, has had a difficult start. The 2-time winner of the Cy Young said that signing late and not being able to assist to the Spring Training has affected his perfomance.

The San Franscisco Giants signed Snell to a two year contract y $62 millions on March.18th without giving him a chance to participate in Spring Training.  Snell just threw nine innings in minor leagues before making his debut in MLB with the San Franscisco Giants against the Washington Nationals on April.8th.

Blake Snell’s speech:

“MLB Spring Training. You need it. I thought I did everything I could to be ready. You have to go to spring training. For me, I hope teams see that. I don’t know what Montgomery is doing, but I bet it’s tough for him. It’s not easy. I didn’t face a Major League hitter until I pitched my first game in the Majors this year, and it’s tough. You just have nothing to go off. You’re like, ‘Let’s see what we got.’ I faced 18-year-olds. They’re all excuses, but it’s the truth.”

Snell about the inconsistencies and the questions about why Montgomery that also didn’t participate in Spring Training is having a good season with the Arizona Diamondbacks:

“I don’t know what Montgomery is doing, but I bet is also hard for him. Is not easy. I haven’t faced any MLB hitter until I played my first game”.

Blake Snell was one of the biggest signing in the past offseason, along with fellow starters Michael Lorenzen and Jordan Montgomery. Lorenzen was pitching well for the Texas Rangers before exiting a game on Saturday with a trainer due to discomfort. Montgomery, who signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks on March 29th, holds his highest ERA and WHIP in four years.
