Edwin Díaz was in charge of getting the last three outs for Puerto Rico over the Dominican Republic to qualify for the Quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic 2023. However, it was not all joy for the Puerto Ricans, as during the celebration, the pitcher suffered an injury and left the field in a wheelchair.

After retiring Teoscar Hernandez with a strikeout, the entire Puerto Rico team celebrated the qualification, but in the midst of the jubilation, Diaz suffered an injury (apparently serious) in one of his legs, which immediately collapsed him on the field and caused concern in all his teammates, despite the happiness of the victory.

The medical report is still unknown, but it seems to be something to worry about, since the pitcher of the New York Mets in the Major Leagues could not leave the stadium under his own power, they had to assist him with a wheelchair.
