Edwin Diaz leaves in wheelchair after injury at Puerto Rico celebration

Edwin Díaz was in charge of getting the last three outs for Puerto Rico over the Dominican Republic to qualify for the Quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic 2023. However, it was not all joy for the Puerto Ricans, as during the celebration, the pitcher suffered an injury and left the field in a wheelchair.

Unusual injury for Edwin Diaz

After retiring Teoscar Hernandez with a strikeout, the entire Puerto Rico team celebrated the qualification, but in the midst of the jubilation, Diaz suffered an injury (apparently serious) in one of his legs, which immediately collapsed him on the field and caused concern in all his teammates, despite the happiness of the victory.

The medical report is still unknown, but it seems to be something to worry about, since the pitcher of the New York Mets in the Major Leagues could not leave the stadium under his own power, they had to assist him with a wheelchair.

Medical report

As reported by the New York Mets, Edwin Diaz injured his right knee after tonight’s World Classic game with Puerto Rico. He will undergo X-rays tomorrow, Thursday, for an in-depth update.

Cry of Alexis Diaz, his brother

At the time of that unfortunate injury, Alex Diaz, Edwin’s brother left in tears, as we assume he saw something serious and did not hold back the urge to cry. An impressive and heartbreaking image.
