Mientras que Jim Bowden también de The Athletic, informó que los Padres y Nacionales han acordado los jugadores en un cambio por Max Scherzer con exámenes médicos y que Max renuncie a su cláusula de no cambio.

Por su parte Jon Heyman también de MLB Network informó que los Padres seguramente están muy interesados y son agresivos en su búsqueda del principal objetivo comercial, Max Scherzer, pero la fuente insiste en que todavía hay “múltiples equipos” con posibilidades. Una de las condiciones para el cambio de Max Scherzer es que esté sano y la otra que el equipo que lo quiera en cambio debe extenderle su contrato, para que el lanzador apruebe el cambio.
