Another team from the MLB has put their eyes on Luis Severino to be a part of their roster for next season.
Apparently, the era of Luis Severino in the New York Yankees is over. Recently, it was rumored that the New York Mets will be having a meeting with Severino this week, but a new team has appeared in the radar.
According to MLB trade, the Detroit Tigers are one of the favorite team to acquire Luis Severino. This is the first time that Severino tests free agency and is expected that he signs a contract for one year.
Why Severino is going to sign a contract for one year?
Despite he can receive a couple of offers that can be for multiple years, which isn’t probable, it is expected that Severino is looking for an agreement that can let him to become a free agent again in 2024.
The Detroit Tigers want to sign a pitcher to their rotation after Eduardo Rodríguez opted to leave the team after two seasons. Also, the Tigers are interested in signing Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Despite it is not the best moment in Severino’s career, they know how capable he is and they hope he can return to his best level if the team signs him, because he still maintains the 96 mph in the speed of its pitches.
His experience and abilities can help the Tigers to be the pitcher that they need, fitting well in the strategy of the Baseball Operations President, Scott Harris, that consists in signing talented pitchers for a short term contract.
