On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the bronze and gold medal games were held, respectively, in Santiago.
The Baseball and Softball Center was the venue for both games. The activity began at 9:30 (Chile time) with the bronze medal match between Mexico and Panama.
The first three innings were even, as the ninth tricolor had the advantage by the slightest. However, it was not until the sixth inning when Mexico began to pull away from the Canaleros with a 6-run rally. A very heavy slab; from which Panama could never rise. With the 10-2 victory, Mexico achieved its fifth bronze medal in its Pan American Games history.
The duel that grabbed the spotlight was Brazil vs. Colombia. Without a doubt, a historic game. For the first time in history, the country of samba was fighting for medals in Pan-American baseball. Unfortunately for them, they were facing Colombia (a country that has grown in baseball recently with Caribbean Series championships and good international results).
Inexperience ended up weighing on the Brazilian team; who fell by a score of 9-1. Despite this, it was a historic medal for both countries; since Colombia achieved the first gold medal in its history at the Pan American Games and Brazil its first medal of any metal.
Now, baseball will give way to softball in these Pan American Games
