The title of the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) Home Run Derby belongs to Teoscar Hernández of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who hit a total of 49 home runs to clinch the championship.
This marks the first time a Dodgers player has won the MLB Home Run Derby since the competition’s inception in 1985.

Hernández entered the first round as the lowest-seeded slugger with 19 home runs, trailing Alec Bohm and José Ramírez who had 21 each, and Bobby Witt Jr. with 20.
In the semifinals, Teoscar Hernández edged out Alec Bohm in a sudden-death tiebreaker after both players hit 14 home runs in the regular period plus bonus time. Hernández secured victory with two homers in three swings, while Bohm managed only one.
Finally, in a dramatic showdown, Hernández blasted 14 home runs in the final, including shots of 449 feet and 454 feet, while Witt Jr. fell short with 13 home runs despite having four bonus outs available.

Thus, Hernández also joins the history books as the seventh Dominican player to win this competition, alongside names like Sammy Sosa, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Juan Soto, among others.
