Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah will undergo season-ending surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow on June 17, as announced by manager John Schneider on Friday, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.
Schneider mentioned that the exact procedure for Manoah is still being determined. The options include Tommy John surgery or a ligament repair with an internal brace.

Alek Manoah exited a start against the Chicago White Sox on May 29 due to discomfort in his right elbow. He was subsequently placed on the 15-day injured list with an elbow sprain after undergoing an MRI.
This injury marks the latest setback for Manoah, who began the season on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. Despite these challenges, Manoah posted a 3.70 ERA in five starts for the Blue Jays this season. This comes after a difficult 2023 season in which he was demoted, shut down, and temporarily placed on the inactive list.
The 26-year-old pitcher had an outstanding performance in 2022, finishing third in the American League Cy Young voting during an All-Star campaign in which he won 16 games and recorded a 2.24 ERA over 196 2/3 innings.
