The Seattle Mariners traded the third baseman, Eugenio Suárez, to the Arizona Diamondbacks for the catcher Seby Zavala and the pitcher Carlos Vargas, sources told Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times.
Eugenio Suárez in one of the third basemen with more power in the league. He scored 32 HR last season and 246 in his career (including the 49 he hit when he was with the Cincinatti Reds in 2019).
The veteran infielder is in his the last guaranteed year of his contract and will win $11,285 million in 2024. His contract also includes a team option of $15 million for 2025 season.
The Arizona Diamondbacks were interested to sign a third baseman for the season, so Eugenio Suárez comes to a team that needed to solify that position in order to improve what they did last season where they arrived to the World Series. Despite Jeimer Candelario and Matt Chapman were the favorites to fill that position, the Diamondbacks opted to add experience with Suárez.
