The mexican is between the candidates to take the San Diego Padres manager position, after Bob Melvin’s arrival to the San Francisco Giants.
In a recent Zoom conference, AJ Preller spoke about the rumors that exist, after Benjamin Gil declared having contact with the Padres and the Guardians.
Preller said; “I will not talk about somebody in particular, but I have a lot of respect for Bengie and the way he managed the Mexican Team in the World Baseball Classic, it was awesome to the see that, I still have some friends that tell me how good he is as a manager. I know that he has some relationships with some areas here and this organizations too, so everything can happen”.

Benjamín Gil has had calls with the New York Mets, the Cleveland Guardians, the San Diego Padres and the Angels.
His good participation in the World Baseball Classic have woke the attention of the teams that need a manager for the next season.
